Day out yesterday

Well, we all went out yesterday as a family - Family Days out are GREAT
We don't have holidays because we're poor buggers, grrrrr so we have days out instead each week or fortnight. Although I'm sure that if I saved up the money we used, then we'd be able to have a holiday. It's just one of those things, where we're skint and worried about saving, and in fact, CAN'T save because we always encounter a problem where we have a bill to pay or something or other
ANYWAY We went to Bradford (12 miles from Huddersfield), by bus and train to go to St. Leonards Farm, which happens to be the area where they used to film Emerdale. Not sure if it's the actual farm though.
It was nice, took a while to get there. £3.95 per person over 2 years old. They had 1 pig with newborn piglets, 1 calf, loads of sheep, goats and chickens. A little petting bit where you could hold rats, mice and ginea pigs which was nice
A barn with hay and under the hay blocks was a VERY DARK maze for the kids to go through. I could get my butt in there but couldn't turn around lol so I came out lol.
There was a bridge too for the goats lol, so they were above us and looking down. No rail or anything so I guess they KNOW not to jump lol.
2 shetland ponies and 2 donkeys.
It was ok, the kids loved it though.
Next fortnight we're going to Wakefield for Water World or something. Slides and waves.

Sounds like a great day Rachel. We always used to go and stay with family for our holidays and it was so awful that once the kids grew up we stopped doing it!Looking back,we'd have done better with days out but having 4 children it was cheaper to go to my dad's. My dream hol would be a hotel somewhere but I'm still waiting!
